World's Holiday Hotspots Revealed- by Post Office Travel Services Report

While euro has come down in value against sterling by more than seven per cent- bringing many other European currencies with it, Europe remains a holiday contender.

According to Post Office Travel Services report, the sterling boost implies that European destinations fill up six of the top ten places in the new Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer of tourist items in 27 countries.

Hungary and the Czech Republic are the cheapest of all the holiday hotspots for 2009, as per Post Office Holiday Money Report. This will make Budapest and Prague preferred cities by UK tourists planning for short breaks. Whereas, for longer vacations tourists would prefer to go to Turkey, Bulgaria and Croatia, as these are cheaper than any of the Euro zone countries. Even though, Spain has made its position in the top ten inexpensive destinations in the Post Office barometer.

Moreover, main Euro zone destinations, such as Greece and France look more competitive. And for long haul tourists South Africa would be a great option.

Another hotspot for 2009 revealed by Post Office Holiday Money Report is Kenya.

It is because sterling has fallen considerably less against the shilling than against currencies for other destinations for long haul tourism that include Egypt, the USA and Thailand. Obviously, competitively priced hotels, discounted flights, and certainly the low tourist costs make the destination a better prospect.

Apparently, UK holidaymakers will check prices cautiously this year and it implies that the most preferred tourist destinations will be the ones that will offer good value for money. Besides, discounted flights and accommodation, tourists will look for economical tourist staples for example, meals out and drinks.

Furthermore, as exchange rates are unpredictable, UK holidaymakers will travel carefully and look for easy ways to save money. So it is advisable that they purchase commission-free currency prior to flying on holiday, to avoid paying great amount of charges at airports as well as overseas at ATMs.

In addition, holidaymakers can use the Post Office Travel Money Card so as to save money for the trip abroad because funds can be loaded on a regular basis in sterling, US dollars, or euros
